Rare, 8.2" Fossil Aetosaur Scute - Chinle Formation, Arizona
This is a 8.2" wide, complete scute of an Aetosaur that was collected from the Chinle Formation of Arizona. It was found in several pieces, requiring crack repair and gap fill restoration in many of the cracks. This is likely a dorsal perimedian plate based off of size and shape.
Comes with the pictured custom metal display stand.
Aetosaurs are an extinct order of heavily armoured, medium- to large-sized Late Triassic herbivorous archosaurs. They have small heads, upturned snouts, erect limbs and a body covered by plate-like scutes.
