.75" Fossil Sawfish Dermal Denticle - Kem Kem Beds, Morocco

This is a fossil dermal denticle from an unknown type of Cretaceous aged sawfish. It is Late Cretaceous, in age or approximately 95 million years old and was collected from the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco. Comes in an acrylic display case.

It was originally determined that these dermal denticles ("skin teeth") were actually rostral teeth of a sawfish like the Onchopristis. While believed to be from the family Pristidae, Peyeria libyca has limited fossil records to draw a conclusion from either side of the debate.
