.66" Fossil Bull Shark Tooth (Carcharhinus) - Unusual Location

This is a serrated, .66" fossil bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) tooth collected from a unique and rare locality in Angola, Africa. It comes from the Luanda Formation, making it Late Miocene - Early Pliocene in age. This material was collected by a geologist working in the country about 15 years ago, so there are almost no Angola shark teeth out there. The label the geologist provided with the teeth indicated they came from the town of Paredes, Angola, however this is located over Precambrian-aged sediment. However, there are Neogene-aged deposits northwest of Parades, likely being the deposit these teeth were collected from.

Comes with an acrylic display case.
