6.6" Ordovician Cephalopod (Actinoceras) Fossil - Wisconsin
This is a 6.6" long example of Actinoceras sp. This fossil is part of an old collection from the Grand Detour Formation in Rock County, Wisconsin. Actinoceras was one of few species of straight-shelled cephalopods. This specimen exhibits crack repair from the extraction process but the fossil itself is quite impressive and an excellent example of the large size these Cephalopods attained. Actinoceras is related to Gonioceras, which is commonly found in the same formation.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
