6.35" Fossil Salamander (Chelotriton) - Gračanica, Bosnia

This is a beautiful 6.35" long fossil salamander (Chelotriton paradoxus) from Bosnia-Herzegovina. It is a nicely preserved specimen with excellent bone preservation. The rock that it was prepped from has been cut flat along its edges and measures 10.7 x 6.25".

Chelotriton is an extinct salamander that closely resembles two living salamanders, Tylototriton and Echinotriton.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

There is a repaired crack that runs down the middle of the fossil, requiring some gap fill restoration. Some of the distal end of the tail has been restored, along with some touchup restoration to a rib and the phalanges of the left hand. Overall it's a spectacular specimen.
