6.3" Hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus) Spinous Process - Wyoming

Hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus) Spinous Process - Wyoming #229735

This is a 6.3" long spinous process of a hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus annectens) caudal vertebra, collected from our partner's lease on the Lance (Creek) Formation in Niobrara County, Wyoming. It features two partially intact postzygaphyses, the bases of each transverse process, and the proximal half of the spinous process.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

There are multiple repaired cracks through the process and it was found detached from the centrum.

Hadrosaurs

are frequently referred to as duck-billed dinosaurs and are members of the Ornithischian family Hadrosauridae. They were fairly common herbivores that roamed Asia, Europe, and North America during the Upper Cretaceous Period. Many species of Hadrosaurs had distinctive crests on their heads, some of which had air-filled chambers that may have produced a distinct sound. These crests may have been used for both audio and visual display purposes.
