This is a huge 6.15" wide, three-dimensional fossil echinoid of the genus Clypeaster collected near Taza, Morocco. This specimen is prepped completely free of the rock and has been polished to a glossy finish.
Animals of the Clypeaster genus are more commonly referred to as "sea biscuits" or "cake urchins. The genus first appeared in the Late Eocene epoch and is still around today.
There are several spots of gap fill on this specimen where the shell chipped away.
