This is a fossil "March Fly", Plecia pealei from the Eocene aged Green River Formation in Wyoming. It measures .55" and is located on a small, thin piece of shale. While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant fossils and insect fauna.
