.51" Detailed Fossil Fly (Plecia) with Preserved Halteres - France
This is an incredibly well preserved fossil fly (order Diptera) of the genus Plecia, collected from an Oligocene-aged shale deposit near Cereste in Southern France. It measures .51" long and shows detailed leg, wing, halteres, and body preservation.
This is part of an old collection that we recently acquired. The collection includes a variety of insect fossils from around Southern France, collected over a span of 50 years by a woman with PhDs in paleontology and pharmacology.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
