Hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus) Vertebral Arch - Wyoming #229730

This is a 5.8" wide, nearly complete, dorsal vertebral arch of a hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus annectens), collected from our partner's lease on the Lance (Creek) Formation in Niobrara County, Wyoming.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

It became detached from the centrum during preservation, yet surprisingly remained mostly intact. The distal ends of each process are missing, though the prezygapophyses, postzygapophyses, and pedicles are in good condition with no repair or restoration.

Hadrosaurs

are frequently referred to as duck-billed dinosaurs and are members of the Ornithischian family Hadrosauridae. They were fairly common herbivores that roamed Asia, Europe, and North America during the Upper Cretaceous Period. Many species of Hadrosaurs had distinctive crests on their heads, some of which had air-filled chambers that may have produced a distinct sound. These crests may have been used for both audio and visual display purposes.
