5.3" Petrified Wood (Hermanophyton) Round - Colorado

This is a rare, 5.3" round of petrified wood (Hermanophyton taylorii) from the Morrison Formation of Colorado. This unique specimen has the xylem (water moving) structure arranged in a radial pattern. This pattern is beautifully preserved in this example. It has been polished to a glossy finish across one face to highlight the detail.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

Hermanophyton is a genus of extinct gymnosperm from the late Jurassic. Gymnosperms are plants whose seeds are not enclosed in an ovary or fruit; they are among the oldest kinds of plants on Earth.
