.47" Hadrosaurid Tooth - Judith River

This is a tooth from a Hadrosaurid found in the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group) of Eastern Montana. The fossil is .47" long and nicely preserved with beautiful enamel. The tooth still comes to a decent point with very little feeding wear. Typically a flat area from feeding wear that is quite common with dinosaur teeth. Dinosaurs shed their teeth throughout their lives and hadrosaurs had dental batteries containing hundreds of teeth that were constantly growing. This tooth has no repair or restoration.

Within the Judith River Group there are 3 major hadrosaurids, Brachylophosaurus, Kritosaurus, and Lambeosaurus with Brachylophosaurus being the most commonly found. With just a single bone it is hard to differentiate between the different genera and give a definitive identification.
