4.7" Miocene Fossil Echinoid (Clypeaster)
This is a giant, 4.7" wide, 3D fossil echinoid of the genus Clypeaster. It has been completely prepped free from the rock it was found in. It came out of an old collection and we are not confident of the location it as collected from.
Animals of the Clypeaster genus are more commonly referred to as "sea biscuits or cake urchins. The genus first appeared in the Late Eocene and survives until today.
