This is a stunning 4.4" wide polished sphere of fossil coral from Sumatra, Indonesia. The polishing allows the beautiful fossilized structure of the coral to easily be seen.

These corals are approximately 20 million years old and are the remains of ancient reefs. Tectonic action has thrust them up as mountains have formed. As these corals fossilized, the original organic material was replaced by silica, iron, manganese, and other minerals.

An acrylic ring display stand will accompany your purchase. There are a couple dull spots on this sphere where the coral wasn't completely agatized.
