4.2" Psychopyge Termierorum Trilobite With Morocconites
This is a spectacular association of two different types of trilobites from the Middle Devonian deposits near Ofaten, Morocco. Central to this piece is rare, spiny 4.2" long Psychopyge termierorum trilobite with a super long rostrum. It's slightly curled but the preparation is fantastic with dozens of free standing spines and less than 1% restoration. On the other side of the pillar of rock is a 3" long Morocconites malladoides with a natural, multi-toned shell coloration. It also has less than 1% shell restoration.
About Trilobites
Trilobites are an extinct class of marine arthropods that thrived for nearly 270 million years, from the early Cambrian to the end of the Permian period (around 521 to 252 million years ago). They are one of the most successful and diverse groups in the history of life, with over 25,000 described species spanning a wide range of sizes, shapes, and ecological niches. Known for their distinctive, segmented exoskeletons, trilobites provide invaluable insights into the evolutionary history of arthropods and the dynamics of ancient marine ecosystems.
