4.1" Polished Pliosaur (Stretosaurus) Bone Slab - England
This is a 4.1" wide piece of polished bone from a pliosaur (Stretosaurus (Pliosaurus) cf. macromerus). It comes from the Middle Jurassic - Kimmeridgian Stage (154 million year old) deposit in Abingdon, England. This bone has been cut into a slab and polished on one side to reveal the beautifully preserved, agatized cell structure.

Pliosaurus is a genus of large carnivorous marine reptile belonging to the Pliosauroidea, a clade of short-necked plesiosaurs. They were an apex predator during the Middle Jurassic period, when seas covered Europe.
