3 Phytosaur (Redondasaurus) Teeth In Sandstone - New Mexico

This is 3 Phytosaur (Redondasaurus) teeth still partially embedded in the sandstone in which they were found. The .7" tooth is well preserved with good enamel. It is missing the point and has a crack repair. The .52" tooth is well preserved with good enamel. It is missing the point and a section of enamel. The .41" tooth is almost entirely embedded with the point showing. It has good enamel and some surrounding rock still attached. The top of the rock has been reattached.

Phytosaurs looked similar to modern day crocodiles with some differences. The main one being that their nostrils were up high on the head instead of at the very front of the snout. They grew up to 20 feet in length and were certainly one of the dominant predators at the time.
