3.75" Fossil Sperm Whale (Physeterula) Tooth - North Carolina
This is a 3.75" long, Pliocene-aged, fossil tooth from a close relative of the sperm whale, Physeterula. It comes from Unit 1 (Placopecten zone) of the lower Yorktown Formation of Beaufort County, North Carolina. This whale fossil is Pliocene in age, or approximately 4.5 million years old.
