3.7" Fossil Pachycephalosaurid Vertebra w/ Metal Stand - Texas

This is a 3.7" long fossil pachycephalosaurid vertebra collected from the Aguja Formation in Texas. It is in great condition with minimal restoration, making up less than 5% of the vertebra. Restoration is primarily in the form of gap fill within repaired cracks, with some larger sections of restoration along one edge of the centrum. All of the restoration lights up nicely under shortwave ultraviolet light.

Comes with the pictured custom metal display stand.

There are two described pachycephalosaurids from the Aguja Formation - Stegoceras sp. and Texacephale langstoni. Vertebrae from these two dinosaurs are typically quite small. The large size of this specimen indicates that there may be a larger, undescribed species of pachycephalosaurid within the Aguja Formation.

This specimen was collected within the past year on private deeded property in Brewster County, Texas. You won't see any other dinosaur material from the Aguja and Javelina Formations for sale because nearly all of the formations lie within the boundaries of Big Bend National Park, where fossils may not be collected, or in Mexico, where fossils cannot be commercially traded. One of our partners was lucky enough to purchase several hundred acres of ranch land in Texas containing a good exposure of these formations, and we will be offering more material from the locality in the future.
