3.3" Pennsylvanian Fossil Flora Plate - West Virginia
This is a 3.3" section of rock containing fern fossils, collected from Coal Country, West Virginia. Most of the fossils are stems and branches, though there are some Eusphenopteris fern fossils along one edge. Eusphenopteris is an extinct genus of seed ferns that flourished during the Carboniferous period, and can be found throughout many of the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian-aged deposits of Eastern North America.
