3.3" Fossil Cyprus (Taxodium) Fronds - Montana

This is fossil cyprus (Taxodium) fronds, from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaf can be seen in good relief. This specimen contains multiple fronds and it id difficult to determine where one ends and the next begins. This makes it hard to determine the length of the fronds.There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaf where some of it flaked onto the negative during collection.

This specimen includes an acrylic display stand.
