3.27" Huge, Top Quality, Tyrannosaur Tooth - Judith River Formation
This is a beautiful, serrated, 3.27" long Tyrannosaur tooth from the Judith River Formation of Montana. This formation is approximately 75 million years old, or about 9 million years older than the Hell Creek Formation which is where Tyrannosaurus rex is found. There are three genus of Tyrannosaurs found in this formation, but given the size of this tooth it's most likely from Daspletosaurus.
Not only is the tooth huge, but it is exceptionally well preserved. The enamel is gorgeous, the serrations are nearly all present and there is almost no wear. It was left in the sandstone it was found in during preparation. A few partial bones can be seen on the back side of the rock. There is no repair or restoration to this tooth. A truly epic Tyrannosaur tooth!

Comes with a floating frame display case.
Three species of tyrannosaur have been described from the Two Medicine & Judith River Formations: Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genus because they are so similar.
