3.24" Indeterminate Dinosaur Ankle Bone - Judith River
This is a 3.24" long ankle bone from an indeterminate dinosaur from the Judith River Formation in Montana. There are two bones in the ankles of many species of dinosaurs; the calcaneum and the astragalus. This specimen has quite a bit of weathering that makes positive identification hard. It is likely a calcaneum from a theropod, but it is hard to say. It has areas of the outer smooth and shiny bone surface remaining and is a very interesting shape. The bone has been stabilized to prevent further breakage.
