20 Million Year Old Fossil Coral Pendant - Sterling Silver

This is a pendant made from polisehd, fossil coral from Sumatra, Indonesia. The polishing allows the beautiful, fossilized structure of the coral heads to easily be seen. The setting has been created using .925 sterling silver.

This corals are approximately 20 million years old and are the remains of ancient reefs thrust up into the mountains by the collisions of tectonic plates. As these corals fossilized the original organic material was replaced by silica, iron, manganese and other minerals.
