2.55" Fossil Leaf (Populus) - Green River Formation, Utah
This is an impressive fossil leaf plate from the Green River Formation, Utah. It contains a beautiful 2.55" poplar (Populus) leaf. The genus Populus includes poplars, cottonwoods, and quaking aspens: this leaf closest resembles cottonwood leaves.
While the Green River Formation is best known for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.

A note on Green River leaf identifications. Over 60 described leaf bearing plants have been identified from this formation, many of which have very similar leaves.
