2.1" Pavlovia Ammonite With Fossil Oyster - Russia
This is a rather uncommon Pavlovia raricostata ammonite from the Yatriya River in Siberia, Russia. They have a distinctive ribbed shell and are Late Jurassic (Tithonian Stage) or approximately 150 million years old. The ammonite has been completely removed from the surrounding rock.
One interesting aspect of this piece is there is also a fossil oyster preserved in the matrix attached to one side of the ammonite. This oyster also nicely functions as a natural stand so the ammonite stands up on it's own with the need for a display stand.
