13.5" Diplodocus Caudal Vertebra With Metal Stand - Colorado
This is a large, 13.5" long, caudal (tail) vertebra from a Diplodocus collected this past summer from our partner companies private quarry east of Dinosaur, Colorado. It comes with a custom made metal stand making it a very displayable piece.
There is some restoration to the ends of the process and minor restoration of surface erosion around the edges of the centrum. But compared to much of the dinosaur material on the market, the restoration is pretty minor. There is a little bit of crushing to the vert or it would have been a much more expensive piece.
One of the best-known sauropods, Diplodocus was a very large long-necked quadrupedal animal, with a long, whip-like tail. It could reach up to 115 feet in length but had a relatively small skull, and a mouth full of small peg-like teeth it.
