11.4" Framed, Pennsylvanian, Fossil Microbial Mat - Oklahoma
This is a 11.4 x 17.4" section of microbial "mat" from the Hartshorne Sandstone of Haskell County, Oklahoma. Also known as "MISS" (Microbially Induced Sedimentary Structures) it's the fossilized ichnofossils left behind by a colony of microbes, similar to the formation of stromatolites. This specimen is mounted to a glossy, black frame with a hanging wire; a unique piece of wall art to be sure.
