10 Inch Wide Choffaticeras Ammonite - Rare Species

This is an impressive and large example of a rare seen ammonite from Madagascar. It is of the genus Choffaticeras, 10 inches wide and quite thick. Ammonites of this genus are often referred to as Margarite or "Daisy" flower ammonites. It has been cut in half and polished to reveal the amazing inner detail. There is some minor restoration to repair cracks because large ammonites like this are often found broken into several pieces in the field. This restoration is mostly visible on the reverse (non display) side of the ammonite.
