10.8" Impressive Fossil Dyrosaurus Mandible - Morocco
This is a stunning, 10.8" long mandible (lower jaw) section from the Eocene-aged (Ypresian stage) Phosphate deposits in the Oulad Abdoun Basin of Morocco. Based on the structure of the jaw and teeth, the most likely candidate is Dyrosaurus maghribensis. Dyrosaurus is an extinct genus of crocodilian, and there are about half a dozen types described from this area.
All of the thirteen teeth present are natural and in good condition, with only minor crack repair and two missing tips. There is glue stabilization at the proximal end of the mandible where it was found broken within the rock, to assist with lasting integrity of the specimen.
