1.9" Miocene Gastropod (Epitonium) Fossil - North Carolina

This is a 1.9" long miocene gastropod from the species, Epitonium fractum. It was collected from the Pungo River Formation of Beaufort County, North Carolina. The gastropod has been prepared within the sandstone in which it was found. The shell's ridges are extremely well preserved and the sandstone is filled with fragments of other shells, making this specimen extraordinarily interesting.
