1.85" Unusual Heteromorph Ammonite (Scaphites) Fossil - Kansas
This is an unusual Scaphites carlilensis ammonite from the Upper Cretaceous of Osborne County, Kansas. These ammonites are found inside of hard concretions (nodules) which are broken open to reveal them. In this case the concretion has been shaped to create a beautiful, free-standing display.
