1.75 Inch Nanotyrannus (Juvenile T-Rex) Tooth
Here is a 1 3/4 inch long (straight line measurement) Tyrannosaurid tooth from South Dakota. The collector attributes it to Nanotyrannus lancensis though there is much belief in the paleontology community that Nanotyrannus is just a juvenile T-Rex (see video)
This tooth has some nice dark enamel though it is a little bit pitted on one side and comes to a nice point. There is a repaired crack near the tip and then also down near the base. It was collected during the summer of 2012 was a private quarry in Butte County, South Dakota. This quarry consists of 2 meters worth of alternating sandstone and gravel, known as a "River Channel Lag Deposit".
