1.7" Alligator Dermal Scute - Florida

This is a beautifully preseved fossil dermal scute of an alligator, collected from Florida. The scute is from an alligator that lived during the Pleistocene epoch is approximately 1.1 - 1.7 million years old. Dermal scutes are bony plates that underly the scales on crocodiles.
