1.65" Fossil Nautilus Pendant - 110 Million Years Old
This is a beautiful pendant featuring a cut and polished, 110 million year old nautilus fossil. These nautili are quarried alongside ammonites in the Mahajanga Province province of Madagascar and lived at a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth. The polishing allows the stunning inner chambers to be seen which have been replaced by calcite over millions of years.
It comes with a 24" long, silver plated snake chain necklace.

A nautilus's shell is made up of two layers. The inner layer has the iridescent shine, while the outer layer provides protection from external forces. Inside the shell are septa that divide the living area of the shell into compartments and help the animal maintain balance and position in the water column.
