1.6" Pleistocene Fossil Tortoise (Hesperotestudo) Nuchal Scute

This is a 1.6" wide nuchal scute from the shell of the extinct land tortoise ("Western turtle"), Hesperotestudo sp., collected from a Pleistocene-aged (~30,000 Years Old) deposit in Levy County, Florida. The nuchal scute is the anterior-most scute at the center of the tortoise shell.
