1.38" Huntonia Trilobite - Black Cat Mountain
This is a detailed, caramel colored, 1.38" long Huntonia trilobite collected at the famous Black Cat Mountain Quarry near Clarita, Oklahoma. This is one of the uncommon species found at the quarry with maybe only one decent specimen found on average per 10-15 days of digging. This one is a small specimen but it's nicely preserved with just a bit of damage to the left eye where the rock was broken during collection.
The Black Cat Mountain Quarry produces a limited number of arguably the most beautiful trilobites in the United States each year. Each specimen is meticulously prepared by quarry owner Bob Carroll under microscope to expose the smallest details. This is a very time consuming process, taking many hours, but yields spectacular results.
