1.3" Polished Chiapas Amber (3.8 g) Necklace - Mexico

Polished Chiapas Amber ( g) Necklace - Mexico #304348

This is a 1.3" long, 3.8 gram piece of polished amber from Chiapas, Mexico. A hole has been drilled through one end of the amber which is accompanied by the pictured necklace string. Inclusions are unidentified plant material or fungus. Under UV light, the amber fluoresces a vibrant blue-green color and portions of this specimen exhibit green coloration just under natural light.

The string length can be adjusted by pulling the knots away from the amber.

Amber is fossilized tree resin that sometimes contains inclusions such as plant matter, fungi, and insects. This amber comes from mines in Chiapas, Mexico, and was formed during the Early/Middle Miocene (15-23 million years ago). The amber was produced by either the two extinct leguminous trees Hymenaea mexicana or Hymenaea allendis, both of which were initially described from fossil flowers included in Mexican amber.
