1.3" Carboniferous Fern (Neuropteris) Fossil - Utah
This is a beautifully preserved, 1.3" tree fern (Neuropteris sp.) fossil from the Manning Canyon Shale located south of Salt Lake City, Utah.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
The Manning Canyon Shale is found in central Utah, near Provo. It hosts a number of Carboniferous-era plants, mostly from the Pennsylvanian-Mississippian ages. Over fifty species of plants have been identified out of the site.

Neuropteris is an extinct genus of fern that reproduced from seed as opposed to sporophyte reproduction like most modern ferns. As with most seed ferns, Neurodontopteridaceae grew in tree form.
