1.11" Tyrannosaur Tooth - Two Medicine Formation
This is a tooth from the tyrannosaurid dinosaur.. It was from the Upper Cretaceous Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group) of Montana. The tooth tooth itself is 1.11 inches in length (straightline measurement) It still has about half of it's enamel present, with a lot of white root etchings which add some character to the tooth. A lot of the serrations are still present and there is some natural feeding damage to the tip of the tooth.
There are three described Tyrannosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group), Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three Tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genre because they are so similar.
