KNIGHTIA FOSSIL FISH FOR SALE

Knightia was a small schooling fish that is the most common fossil fish found in the Green River Formation of Wyoming. These fish resembled modern herrings and behaved in a similar fashion, favoring freshwater over the saline environment of their relatives. Knightia is one of the most common fossils on the market because of their schooling lifestyle and ability to produce staggering numbers of offspring. The largest Knightia recorded was about 10 inches long, but the average is between 3 and 5 inches, rarely reaching 6+ inches. These are a staple of the Green River Formation material and make an excellent addition to any collection.
