INDONESIAN FOSSIL CORAL FOR SALE

This fossilized coral is from the western Indonesian Islands of Sumatra and Java and is 23 million years old. It represents the remains of ancient reefs thrust up into the mountains by the collisions of tectonic plates. As these corals fossilized their original organic material was replaced by silica, iron, manganese, and other minerals. This process of fossilization led to retention of a lot of the corals' detailed structures, and can be highlighted by polishing the material.
