Worry stones are smooth, polished stones, usually in the shape of an oval, with a thumb-sized indentation. They are often used by people for relaxation or anxiety relief purposes, the same way as some people use a fidget spinner. Typically, worry stones are 1 1/2 to 2 inches across. They may also be referred to as palm stones, thumb stones, fidget stones, etc.
Owyhee blue opal is the name given to a common opal sourced from Lake Owyhee in eastern Oregon, close to the Snake River border with Idaho.
The blues in this opal form in an unconventional way. This stone is actually translucent when first mined, but as water evaporates from the stone it gradually becomes opaque and blue. The striking colors likely come from copper impurities within the stone. Owyhee opal is common opal, which lacks the play of color seen in precious opals: however, this stone's unique coloration, linear formations, and pockets of agate make it an attractive and popular stone for lapidary work.
