HUBBARD BASIN PETRIFIED WOOD FOR SALE
Hubbard Basin petrified wood is a particularly attractive variety of petrified wood found only in Elko County, Nevada. Most specimens from this location are petrified spruce trees between 6 and 22 million years old. This wood is notable for fields of tan or white-blue chalcedony streaked with bolts and blotches of red, orange, or dark brown. This material has become very popular with collectors because of its brilliant contrasting colors and patterns. Many of these specimens have excellent growth ring preservation that shows even through the wood's wacky patterns and colors. Hubbard Basin petrified wood makes phenomenal large-scale display pieces, mantle displays, and intriguing bookends.
