Large Enrolled Drotops Trilobite - Super Eyes
This is an nicely preserved, large, enrolled specimen of the trilobite Drotops megalomanicus. It's 2.6 inches wide and about inches around the curve. It has been prepared free of the surrounding matrix and is quite impressive. The preparation is very nice and eye facets are nicely preserved. No restoration.
One of the most striking features of this trilobites is the large schizochroal (multi-faceted) eyes which would have given it a nearly 360 degree field of vision. It also has a very bumpy exoskeleton, in particularly on it's head.
