2.3" Plate Of Devonian Plant (Zosterophyllum) Fossils - Scotland

These are spore cases from an early plant called Zosterophyllum myretonianum. Zosterophyllls are an extinct, leafless group of plants, relatives to the club-mosses. It was collected from the Aberlemno Quarry near Angus, Scotland. The Aberlemno Quarry is regarded to have the best examples of Zosterophyllum anywhere, though other instances occur in South Wales and the Czech Republic. The plant material is Early Devonian in age (~410 Million Years). The dark plant segments contrast well against the gray rock material.
