1.8" Leonaspis Trilobite - Hmar Lakhdad, Morocco

This is a dark, purple Leonaspis trilobite from Hmar Lakhdad, Morocco. The shell coloration is due unique to the location and due to the high levels of iron in the silicified exoskeleton. Complete trilobites are very rare at this locality compared to other Devonian sites in Morocco.

The tail is tucked on the specimen, it it's quite large, being about 1.8" including the spines.
